Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A persistent conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof disproving her claim opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
