The artist has handed over the complete sum of his £25k honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to protect the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

He was presented with the prize on October 16 as his new release People Watching was chosen as the top album of the previous year.

He has opted to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, major artists such as the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous grassroots venues across the UK.

These funds helped venues that were facing imminent closure due to challenges stemming from flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and neighbor objections.

Some locations received monetary aid in upgrading facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted musicians and fans.

"The concept that revenue from shows in large arenas helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has said.

Fender is among several artists to donate his honor funds to worthy causes.

When the band received the prize in the mid-90s for their album the album, lead singer the singer declared that the band would donate their prize money to the organization War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer she divided her award among several organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked updated gear," the artist shared with a publication.

Previously, they contributed their funds to the community center that developed their act, in addition to other local music groups.

And 1994 winners they gave their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.

"Receiving the award was sufficient," remarked vocalist Heather Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the cake. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the trust shared it had protected several grassroots venues in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

One venue in the city and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the community ownership scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
